As part of its consulting module, EMIS provides integrated prescribing alerts to prompt clinicians when they may be attempting to prescribe inappropriate medication.
For example, once a patient is recorded as allergic to penicillin, should a clinician attempt to prescribe Amoxicillin, to proceed they'd need to override the prescribing alert:
In addition to allergy alerts, there are also more basic severity warnings that are displayed back to the clinician when attempting to prescribe selected medications. For example, when prescribing Amlodipine, EMIS advises a low severity alert regarding grapefruit juice consumption:
