Key Considerations

When merging GP partnerships, you may need to assign patients to new or different GPs in EMIS Web. Before completing any reallocation, check the following:

  • Enable reallocation for the trading partner: Confirm “Allow Re-Allocation” is switched on in Workflow Manager Configuration.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders: Notify the relevant health authority or trading partner before bulk transfers, especially if you intend to transfer large patient lists.
  • Bulk Transfers vs Partnership Reallocation: Using the Bulk Transfers tab under Usual GP Reallocation lets you selectively move patients. Partnership Reallocation also changes usual/registered GP but may mean next capitation payments do not match your updated lists straight away.
  • Multiple GPs in one reallocation: Assign patients based on surname ranges, and if needed, include the donor GP as a recipient to retain a portion of their list.
Aligning patient lists accurately during mergers can reduce administrative work and improve patient continuity of care.

After reallocation, keep an eye on any trading partner confirmations so your new GP lists and financial reporting align quickly.
