NHS GP video consultations

Hero's video appointment functionality is secure and simple to use, enabling practitioners to quickly connect with patients online, without complex logins or app downloads

Automated video invites

We set out to make scheduling and joining a video consultation hassle free for patients and practitioners. The moment a patient books an appointment, they automatically receive a secure link, eliminating any confusion about how to join the video call. We then issue a reminder with the video link, sent 30 minutes before the consultation.

Reliable, secure, and NHS-compliant

Built with NHS standards in mind, Hero Health’s video consultations provide a secure and confidential platform for patient care. With end-to-end encryption and compliance with data protection regulations, both clinicians and patients can trust that their information remains safe.

App-free video consultations

It is important with video calls that neither patients nor practitioners need to download any applications to access the call. Hero Health’s video consultations run smoothly in any web browser, allowing both patients and clinicians to join with a single click. This ensures virtual appointments are as simple as possible to access.

Seamless multi-participant calls

We allow additional attendees to join video consultations when needed; for example, a carer, a translator, or another healthcare professional. This feature ensures that every patient gets the support and expertise they need in one easy-to-access video call.

How Hero Health's video consultation feature works

NHS GPs use Hero's video functionality to quickly arrange video consultations with patients

1

Book appointment

The patient is booked into the video appointment, either making the booking independently online or booked in by an administrator on their behalf

2

Video invitation issued

The patient (or proxy) is automatically sent the link to join the video consultation at the time of booking, and again 30 minutes prior to the appointment.

3

Join consultation

The patient can enter the video waiting room up to 15 minutes in advance of the appointment start time. The clinician can join directly from the Hero diary.
