Configuring the shared record view in EMIS Web is crucial for ensuring that healthcare professionals have access to the necessary patient information across different healthcare organisations. To successfully configure this, certain Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) activities must be completed.
Organisation Level Configuration
To set a default shared record view at the organisational level, the RBAC activity B0370 View Summary Health Record is required. This will set the default view for all users within the organisation, making it more efficient for accessing shared records frequently viewed from a particular local healthcare organisation.
User Level Customisation
Individual users have the option to customise their default shared record view, allowing their settings to override the organisation's default when needed. This requires the RBAC activity B0380 Perform Detailed Health Record. Such personalisation ensures that users can optimise their workflow according to their specific requirements.
"Customising the shared record view at a user level means that each clinician can have quick access to the data most relevant to their practice, saving time and improving decision-making quality."
To configure these settings, navigate to the EMIS Web Menu, select Care Record, and then choose Summary. If no patient is selected, the system will prompt you to select one. Access the Care Record Configuration screen via the CR Config on the ribbon. Under Sharing Navigator, configure the desired settings in the Organisation or User Options section.
- My record: This is the default view.
- All records: Allows viewing of all listed records.
- Specific care record sharing agreement: Select one or all from the listed sharing agreements available.
Finalise your settings by clicking OK to confirm the changes.
By understanding and utilising the shared record functionality, healthcare providers can enhance information accessibility, improve coordination amongst providers, and ultimately contribute to better patient care.
