Hero Health - EMIS Web Support Guide

What is the difference between appointment cancellation and appointment deletion in EMIS Web?

Cancellation lets you remove a booked appointment for one or more patients while retaining a date-stamped record in the slot history. It frees up the slot for future use or reallocation. You can generate a cancellation letter, set a reason, and where needed notify the patient via SMS or print.

Deletion generally refers to removing an entire future booking session from the system, including any appointments within it. This might be used if a clinic session is no longer running. A deleted session is removed from the Appointment Book so it cannot be rebooked for that date or time.

Deleting a session can save time if you need to remove multiple appointments quickly, preventing confusion and freeing you from having to cancel each appointment individually.
