What configurations are necessary during the EMIS Web installation?

Machine and Folder Access
Make sure the PC meets the hardware requirements and that you have read, write and modify permissions for C:\ProgramData\EMIS and C:\ProgramData\SDS. These permissions ensure EMIS can save critical files and receive updates without interruption.

Organisation ID and Connectivity
When installing, enter the correct Organisation ID (CDB number) to generate the right configuration files. If your PC is off-site, use a VPN so you remain connected to the HSCN network, which the installer needs to fetch the proper setup components.

Virtual Machine Settings
If you’re installing onto a virtual machine, select Yes when prompted. This registers the environment accordingly, so the install process can apply any relevant virtual configuration.

Avoid Cloning or Imaging
Once EMIS Web is installed, don’t clone or image the Windows system for another practice or organisation. Each site’s Organisation ID is unique, and reusing the same installed image can disrupt essential configuration files.

Automatic Updates
After the install, a background process (SDS) manages patches to keep EMIS Web up to date. As long as the PC remains connected to HSCN (or via VPN), any future updates will download and install automatically.
