System Requirements
Before you begin, check that your computer meets EMIS Web’s hardware specifications. Without the right performance levels (memory, processor speed, etc.), EMIS Web may run slowly or fail to install.
HSCN Connection
Installation must be completed over an HSCN connection (or via a secure VPN). Ensure you have access to HSCN before running the installer. If you’re using a remote device, connect to your practice’s network securely first.
Organisation ID
Have your Organisation ID (CDB number) readily available. During installation, essential configuration files are downloaded based on your unique ID. If you have a letter in your CDB number, enter it exactly (e.g., 101a).
User Permissions
To run EMIS Web successfully, you’ll need suitable read/write/modify rights for the following folders on your PC:
- C:\ProgramData\EMIS
- C:\ProgramData\SDS
Without these permissions, the software can’t update or save settings to these directories.
Cloned PCs
Avoid installing EMIS Web on a PC image that is then shared among different practices. Every install writes unique data tied to a single Organisation ID, so re-using clones leads to errors.
Once these points are covered, download and run the EMIS Web installer. Follow the on-screen prompts, supply your Organisation ID, and wait for the process to complete. An EMIS Web icon will then appear on your desktop, ready to launch.
