Editing or Unlinking Medication from a Problem

Keeping your medication links accurate helps ensure clear and reliable patient records. This is especially important when a prescription no longer applies to a specific problem or when you need to maintain proper data for auditing and clinical accuracy.

"Accurate links between medications and problems help clinicians instantly understand the patient’s treatment history, improving safety and reducing confusion."

Steps to Edit or Unlink Medication

  • Open the Problems screen: From the EMIS Web menu, point to Care Record, then select Problems.
  • Select the problem: Choose the relevant patient if prompted, then highlight the problem for which you want to edit or unlink medication.
  • Expand the Detailed View: If you cannot see the Linked Medication section, click the chevron on the right to open the pane.
  • Click Edit Links: In the Linked Medication section, select Edit Links. The Care Record Picker screen appears.
  • Edit or unlink: Tick or untick boxes to link or unlink medications. Click OK to confirm. You can also right-click an existing link in the Problem Medication Linker screen and choose Unlink.
