When working with shared record views in EMIS Web, you have various configuration options to manage how patient data is accessed and shared between organisations and users.
Configuring Default Shared Record Views
Shared record views can be configured at both the organisation and user levels. This flexibility allows you to streamline the access and consistency of record views, making patient data easier to manage and access.
Organisation Level: This can be configured to set a default shared record view commonly accessed by clinicians. To do this, ensure your RBAC role includes activity B0370 (View Summary Health Record). Access the Care Record Configuration screen from the EMIS Web menu, navigate to Care Record, then Summary, and click on CR Config. Under Organisation Options, select the desired default view.
User Level: Individual users can override the organisation's default by setting their own preferences. The RBAC activity required is B0380 (Perform Detailed Health Record). Follow the same navigation as above, and select your preferences under User Options.
Managing Shared Data
Shared data management in EMIS Web enables clinicians to access patient details contributed by other organisations within agreed sharing protocols. These shared records can be crucial in maintaining continuity of care, especially in environments with multiple care providers such as PCNs and out-of-hours services.

Patient Consent for Data Sharing
Patient consent is central to data sharing within EMIS Web. The system allows for both implied and explicit forms of consent. Ensure that the patient’s consent preferences are managed accurately, especially when dealing with sensitive or personal health data.
Patients can express their consent or dissent for sharing their records using the Care Record Summary or Registration screens where informed decisions about consent can be documented.
