For ensuring the EMIS Web services function efficiently across various networks, specific IP allocations are essential. These IP allocations allow secure and reliable connectivity for applications hosted on N3, the Internet, and Amazon Web Services (AWS).
N3 IP Allocations
EMIS Web utilises two primary datacentres for N3 facing services:
- EMIS Backup Datacentre: 10.207.112.0/22
- EMIS Primary Datacentre: 10.207.116.0/22
These IP allocations ensure secure communication within the NHS private network.
Internet Facing IP Allocations
For internet-facing services, EMIS utilises the following IP allocations:
- RIPE Local Internet Registry Allocation - 185.13.72.0/22
- EMIS Cogent Allocation - 149.11.42.48/29
Amazon Web Services (AWS) Allocations
Many EMIS Web services, such as document uploads and appointment refresh, utilise AWS. These services generally use TCP port 443 with AWS domains like:
- *.iot.eu-west-2.amazonaws.com
- https://d1c7heevvbqh.cloudfront.net
Configuring firewalls to allow outbound traffic on port 443 for these AWS domains is crucial for seamless document management and appointment updates.
It is important for network and firewall configuration teams to understand and apply these IP allocations correctly. This guarantees secure and uninterrupted access to the EMIS Web services, whether they are connecting through N3, the Internet, or AWS.
