How to I change a slot type once it is in the EMIS Web appointment book?

Changing a slot type in EMIS Web is done through the Appointment Book. Whether you made a mistake when first creating the slot or need to adapt an existing slot to a different purpose, follow these steps to amend it.

Steps to amend a slot type

  • Open the Appointment Book and select the relevant date and session.
  • Right-click on the slot you want to change and choose Slot Properties.
  • On the Slot Properties screen, locate the Slot Type field. If it’s editable, select the desired type from the dropdown.
  • Make any additional changes, then click OK to confirm.
Changing a slot type can help ensure the session is used correctly. For instance, you can convert a routine face-to-face slot into a telephone slot if a patient needs to be contacted by phone rather than attending in person.

If you find the slot type field is unavailable or greyed out, ensure you have the correct permissions (such as RBAC activity B0560) and that the slot’s booking status allows changes.
