Hero Health - EMIS Web Support Guide

What does blocking an appointment in EMIS Web's appointment book do?

Appointments
Beginner

Blocking an appointment slot stops it from being booked, ensuring no one can schedule a patient into that time. This is handy if you need a private slot for admin or a personal break, or if a clinician requires a slot to remain free for any reason.

When a slot is blocked, users will see it is unavailable to book. If you ever need to make the slot open again, edit the Slot Properties settings and deselect Blocked (assuming the slot is still unbooked).

By selectively blocking slots, you can save admin time and maintain clear booking boundaries, lowering the risk of double-booking or unauthorised changes.
