Why create a new slot type
Creating a new slot type in EMIS Web helps staff quickly identify and book the correct kind of appointment. This can improve patient flow, reduce confusion, and customise appointment availability for different clinical or administrative activities.
Steps to create a new slot type
- Open Appointment Configuration: From the Appointment Book, click Appts Config or navigate via the EMIS button to access the configuration screen.
- Select "Slot Types": Locate Slot Types in Organisation Options. Click Add to open the Slot Type Details screen.
- Enter basic details: Give your slot type a clear name and choose whether it's bookable. For example, "Blood Test" or "Telephone Consultation."
- Customise appearance: Pick colours or an icon, helping users quickly recognise this slot in the Appointment Book.
- Set additional properties: For instance, configure embargo settings or automatic SMS if your organisation uses messaging. Ensure Allow auto DNA is only selected if appropriate.
- Save: Click OK to confirm. Your new slot type is now ready to use when creating or editing sessions.
