Quick Steps
1. Access the Appointment Book by clicking the EMIS button, hovering over Appointments, then selecting Appointment Book. Ensure you have the necessary permissions to manage sessions.
2. On the ribbon at the top of the Appointment Book, click Create Session. The Create Session screen opens in the right-hand pane.
Key Details to Complete
- Session Name: Provide a clear, descriptive name (e.g. “Flu Clinic” or “Nurse AM Checks”).
- Session Type: Choose from Timed, Untimed, List, or Non-clinical, depending on whether you need time-specific slots or an open-ended session.
- Dates & Times: Confirm start/end times (or select All Day for untimed sessions). If you need the session to repeat, click Define to set a recurrence pattern.
- Slot Setup: For timed sessions, specify the slot duration. For untimed or list sessions, you can display slot numbers.
- Session Holders: Click Add to assign one or more clinicians. Use Add as Joint or Add as Individual if you need either one combined session or separate sessions for each person.
Creating an extra session is a practical solution for seasonal or short-notice clinics, helping you meet patient demand quickly.
Finishing Up
When you’re ready, click Create. EMIS Web checks for any conflicts—if found, you can choose whether to keep or remove overlapping sessions. Make sure you use session holder filters to see your newly created session.
If this will be a regularly used schedule, select Save as Template before creating it. This helps you quickly load the same session pattern next time.
Did you know?
You can make your newly created sessions available for online booking. By enabling Online booking capabilities to suit your specific slot needs, patients can quickly book themselves via your website. This reduces admin time and offers extra convenience to your patients.
