To add clinical content to an eRS referral letter in EMIS Web, you will need to use the Generate NHS e-Referral Letter screen. This process helps ensure that your referral letters contain all the necessary clinical information in a consistent and accessible format for both the referring and receiving clinicians.
Steps to Add Clinical Content
- On the Generate NHS e-Referral Letter screen, click on NHS e-RS Letter Text to add any extra information not available in the patient's care record.
- Select the required entries from the clinical content displayed, such as Consultations, Observations, Employment, and more.
- The sections such as Clinical Content, Family History, Allergies, and others are automatically populated, but you can review and select or deselect as needed.
Having clinical information readily available in referrals enhances the accuracy and speed of the referral process, empowering both patients and clinicians. It can save significant time by reducing the back-and-forth communication often required to clarify patient details.
Attachments and Finalizing the Letter
- You may attach additional files if necessary, ensuring they comply with the permitted file formats, such as PDF, Word documents, and JPEG images.
- Preview the letter to ensure all the information is included correctly. At the bottom right of the screen, choose options to Print, Save as Draft, Authorise and Send, or Send for Authorisation.
Effective use of clinical content in referral letters facilitates smoother transitions in patient care and helps in maintaining comprehensive medical records.
