Step-by-Step Process
- Log in to EMIS Web with a smartcard, as access to eRS requires smartcard authentication.
- Open the Consultations module from the EMIS Web menu under Care Record.
- With a patient selected, navigate to the Consultations screen.
- Click Add on the ribbon and then select Consultation.
- In the Consultation Mode screen, choose Referral on the left pane and select NHS e-Referral with options like Routine, Urgent, or 2 Week Rule depending on necessity.
- The eRS portal will launch, presenting the Service Selection screen.
- Select the required service on eRS and complete the selection on the Service Selection screen.
- Once the service is selected, continue to complete the referral details in the NHS e-RS Referral screen within EMIS Web.
Utilising the integrated eRS system within EMIS Web not only streamlines the referral process but also enhances the accuracy of patient information exchange, ultimately improving the coordination of patient care.
As part of the referral process, ensure all mandatory fields are filled and consider attaching any necessary documentation. You can delegate tasks to an administrator for creating referral letters or, if required, generate these directly within the system for immediate action.
Should you need to defer your referral service selection, the system will save the UBRN, allowing you to return later to complete the process.
