To create a referral letter template in EMIS Web, follow these steps to streamline your referral process and maintain consistency across all documents.
Accessing Template Manager
Begin by navigating to the EMIS Web menu. Point to Configuration and select Template Manager. This will open the area where you manage document templates.
Creating the Template
In Template Manager, go to the Document Templates tab. Click Add on the ribbon and choose Document Template. Ensure you select a folder to save your template, as the option to add will be greyed out if a folder is not chosen.
On the Document Template screen, you can design your template. Use mail merge variables to dynamically insert patient-specific and clinical information when the document is used later. Common categories for variables include Patient Details, Clinical Content, Appointments, Referrals, and Organisation Details.
Finalising the Template
To preview your template when merged with patient details, use Test Merge. Once you’re satisfied, click File and select Save As. Input a concise and descriptive name for your template, and choose an appropriate folder and status (Active, Inactive, or Draft). Click OK to save.
Tip: Creating referral letter templates in EMIS Web significantly reduces time spent on administrative tasks, allowing you to focus more on patient care. With pre-set templates, generating letters becomes a quick and efficient task.
