EMIS Web allows users to efficiently manage access to shared records and appointments through configurable sharing agreements. Ensuring consistent job category access to these records is crucial for maintaining both privacy and efficiency within healthcare practices.
Configuring Shared Record Access
To navigate sharing agreements, users can configure the default shared record view at both the organisation and user levels. From the EMIS Web Menu, select Care Record and then Summary. If no patient is selected, you will be prompted to choose one. Navigate to CR Config and then the Sharing Navigator, where you can adjust the default view to either "My Record", "All Records", or a specific sharing agreement.
Did you know? Efficient sharing agreement settings can significantly reduce the time healthcare professionals spend searching for patient records, enhancing overall workplace productivity.
Job Category Access
Access to shared records depends on job categories. Default settings limit access to certain roles, such as General Medical Practitioners, Community Nurses, and System Administrators. If an organisation wishes to customise access, it must specify which job categories are allowed during the setup of the EMIS Web Care Record Sharing Agreement (form QF1091).
For instance, certain roles necessary for Enhanced Access, like Advanced Nurse Practitioners, are not included by default. Ensuring that the correct access rights are granted will facilitate seamless interaction and appointment bookings across different healthcare professionals.
Data Sharing Agreements
Properly configured Data Sharing Agreements (DSAs) are essential for managing how different organisations can share patient information. Establish agreements for care records, cross-organisation tasks, and appointments to enable smooth sharing practices. The DSAs should be checked and updated regularly to comply with changes in job roles and organisational needs.
