The Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) allows patients to nominate a pharmacy of their choice to receive prescriptions electronically. This not only saves time for patients, who no longer need to collect a paper prescription, but also helps to streamline the process for healthcare providers and pharmacies.
Steps for Patients to Nominate a Pharmacy for EPS
- **Visit** your GP practice to express your intention to nominate a pharmacy.
- **Provide** the details of the pharmacy you wish to nominate. This can either be done directly at the practice or remotely if your practice offers such facilities.
- Ensure your details are **synchronised** with the Personal Demographics Service (PDS), including having a 10-digit NHS number.
- **Confirm** your choice with the practice. Your nominated pharmacy will receive all subsequent electronic prescriptions.
Once your nomination is set, prescriptions are sent electronically to the chosen pharmacy, allowing for a more efficient collection process. Should you wish to change your nomination at any point, you can do so by notifying your GP practice or directly at your nominated pharmacy.
"By nominating a pharmacy for EPS, patients can significantly reduce waiting time as pharmacies can prepare medications in advance."
