The 'one-off nomination' feature in the Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) within EMIS Web allows a patient to send a prescription to a different pharmacy than their regularly nominated one, without altering their usual nomination setup. This can be especially useful in situations where a patient might find themselves unable to collect their medication from their nominated pharmacy, such as when travelling or in case of an emergency.
How to Use the One-Off Nomination Feature
To set a one-off nomination, follow these steps within EMIS Web:
- Log into EMIS Web using your smartcard and navigate to the Medication section.
- Select the patient and proceed to the medication you wish to issue.
- On the Issue screen, click on Nominations.
- Under the One-Off Pharmacy Nomination section, click Find and enter the relevant postcode and pharmacy name.
- Select the desired pharmacy and click OK to complete the nomination process.
It's essential to note that this feature is currently available only for community pharmacies and not applicable for appliance contractors or distance selling pharmacies.
"The one-off nomination in EPS allows patients the flexibility to choose where to collect their prescription based on their current location, adding convenience and ensuring continuity of care."
By utilising the one-off nomination feature, practices can ensure their patients experience seamless medication collection, even when away from home.
