When working within a Primary Care Network (PCN) Hub, granting permission to view a patient's GP Record involves several key steps, ensuring both compliance and patient privacy.
Data Sharing Agreement
Firstly, ensure that there is a Care Record Data Sharing Agreement in place between the PCN Hub and the GP practice. This agreement allows the hub to access the GP record of traced patients securely.
Accessing the GP Record
- During a consultation, navigate to the consultation window. Expand the View menu located on the left side.
- Select either All Records or the specific GP practice name to view the desired records.
- When accessing, a prompt will appear asking if the patient has given permission to access their GP record. Patient consent is required to proceed.
"Implementing a unified access system via data sharing agreements can significantly streamline the consultation process, saving valuable time for clinicians and ensuring integrated care."
Secure and Privileged Access
Only specific job categories are allowed to view the shared data in accordance with the agreement. These include roles such as General Medical Practitioners, Community Practitioners, Pharmacists, and designated System Administrators.
Making "All Records" Default View
For ease of access, organisations can configure "All Records" as the default view for all clinicians by navigating to CR Config in the consultation window and selecting Sharing Navigator under Organisation Options.
