Copying shared data to local records in EMIS Web is a functionality that enhances continuity of care by enabling healthcare providers to integrate relevant data from other organisations into their local system. This ensures clinicians and practitioners have comprehensive patient records, which can improve treatment efficacy and patient outcomes.
Steps for Copying Shared Data
Before copying shared data, ensure your sharing agreement permits it and that the appropriate RBAC activities, B0360 for viewing detailed health records and B0790 for performing clinical coding, are assigned to your role.
- Access the Care History or Investigations screen.
- If necessary, expand the shared records pane by clicking the chevron on the left side of the screen.
- Select the required sharing agreement to view the patient records that the selected organisation has added.
- Right-click the specific shared item you wish to copy and choose Copy To Local Record.
- On the Observation Copy message screen, click OK to confirm the transfer.
Note: For clinical safety reasons, only one item can be copied at a time. This prevents accidental inclusion of unwanted data.
Efficient data copying ensures you maintain up-to-date patient records without needing to manually re-enter observations, saving significant administration time.
Benefits of the Functionality
Having a comprehensive view of a patient's medical history fosters better-informed clinical decisions. By incorporating information such as allergies, immunisations, and previous investigations, healthcare providers can craft more effective care plans tailored to individual patient needs.
