To cancel medication issues in EMIS Web, you need to navigate to the Medication screen. Here’s how you can effectively cancel medication issues:
Steps to Cancel Medication Issues
- Access the Medication screen by clicking the EMIS Web menu, pointing to Care Record, and selecting Medication.
- Select the medication item(s) you wish to cancel.
- Click on Cancel Issue on the ribbon.
- You will see a Cancel Issues screen. Here, you can click the dropdown beside the Reason field to select a cancellation reason.
- If necessary, enter up to 30 characters to provide additional cancellation details in the free text field.
- Once completed, click Cancel Issue to finalise the process.
Important Considerations
Note that when cancelling medication issues, acute medication will automatically expire after 28 days or the course duration, whichever is longer, and will move to the Past Medication screen automatically. However, repeat medication does not expire automatically and needs to be manually cancelled.
Cancelled issues are not counted towards the permissible repeats left, ensuring the patient's medication record is accurately maintained and potentially avoiding unnecessary repeats.
