Configuring User Quick Codes and Text in EMIS Web
Quick codes in EMIS Web are a valuable feature designed to streamline data entry by allowing users to create short abbreviations for longer phrases or clinical terms. This functionality is particularly beneficial for reducing the time spent on typing repetitive information during consultations, thereby enhancing efficiency and accuracy.
Follow these steps to configure user Quick codes and text:
- Access the Consultations section from the EMIS Web menu.
- Select Care Record, and then Consultations.
- From the ribbon at the top, click on CR Config.
- In the User Options section of the left-hand pane, choose Quick codes and text.
- To create a new Quick code, enter a short abbreviation in the designated field, and specify the full text that it will represent.
- You can add, edit, or delete Quick codes as per your requirements. Remember, Quick codes should be unique to the user unless organisational Quick codes are configured first.
Configuring Quick codes allows healthcare professionals in EMIS Web to expedite the documentation process, enabling more time to focus on patient care and reducing the likelihood of errors.
It's recommended that organisations first decide on a set of Quick codes that are useful across the board, establishing a standard usage, and then allow users to personalize additional codes for their specific needs.
If you encounter a conflict where a Quick code is already in use, a warning icon will alert you, marked with a tooltip indicating the existence of a similar entry at the organisational level. Work with your system administrator to resolve these conflicts effectively.
