Configuring quick codes and text for consultations streamlines the documentation process in EMIS Web by allowing users to associate clinical terms or long strings of text with shorter placeholders. This feature not only saves time but also promotes uniformity across the organisation.
Configuring Quick Codes
To set up quick codes at the organisational level, follow these steps:
- Navigate to Consultations via the Care Record.
- Click on CR Config in the ribbon and select Consultation Properties from the left-hand panel.
- Select Consultation Quick Picks. From this pane, you can manage quick picks settings.
- Add new quick codes by linking them to frequent phrases or clinical terms. For instance, use ‘tatt’ for ‘tired all the time’.
Quick codes can be a great timesaver, especially for common phrases. Whether it's noting frequent consult topics or symptom descriptions, using codes like ‘tatt’ for ‘tired all the time’ reduces keystrokes and optimises time spent on data entry.
Editing and Managing Quick Codes
Should there be a need to revise the quick codes:
- Edit your organisation’s quick codes by selecting them and making necessary changes as required.
- Be mindful of duplicates; if a quick code is already in use, a warning icon will notify you. Hover over it to see who created it.
- If duplicates arise, ensure collaboration in your team to remove or standardise them for consistency.
By employing quick codes across the EMIS Web consultations, teams can ensure an efficient, streamlined approach to patient record management, reducing documentation time and potential errors from manual data entry.
