Adjust User Roles and Permissions
Ensure junior staff have limited permission levels so they cannot amend key practice settings or override booking rules. In Role settings (Organisation Configuration), set:
- B8017 Manage Patient Administration: Only senior roles should have this if you want to restrict who can create or change organisation-wide slot settings.
- B0560 Perform Patient Administration or related tasks: Fine-tune these to ensure certain roles cannot book restricted slots.
Configure Slot Types
When creating or editing a slot type (in Appointments Configuration > Slot Types):
- Uncheck Bookable Slot for any slot type you do not want available to all staff.
- Use Embargo Types to restrict general booking until a specific time (this can be useful if only certain staff have permission to override embargoes).
Use Session Holder Filters
Set up separate views of the Appointment Book so that junior staff filters exclude sensitive slot types:
- Create or edit filters under Appointments Configuration > Session Holder Filters.
- Only include the slot types or session holders that junior staff legitimately need to see.
Tip: If you notice staff could still book restricted slots, double-check any overridden permissions in their user profiles or examine shared filters that might inadvertently show hidden slot types.
