Restricting Certain Slot Types
In EMIS Web, you can manage which slot types your junior staff can book by adjusting the slot type settings and organisation-level user permissions. This prevents staff with lower privileges from accidentally or inappropriately booking sensitive or advanced appointment types.
Set Slot Types as Non-Bookable or Blocked
Create or edit a slot type, and deselect Bookable Slot if you do not want it visible to general users. You can also mark it as Blocked or apply additional rules (for example, Urgent or Embargo Type) to ensure it is only accessible to authorised members.
Use Role Profiles and User Permissions
Confirm you have the relevant rights (for example, B8017 Manage Patient Administration) to configure slot properties. Only staff with these privileges can change booking availability. Junior staff with standard permissions cannot override or alter these settings once applied.
Refine Session Holder Filters
In Appointments Configuration, remove confidential or advanced slot types from session holder filters assigned to junior staff. This means those slot types simply do not appear in their view of the Appointment Book, stopping unintentional bookings.
