NHS app: If your organisation has switched on automatic updates for mobile and email in Organisation Configuration, any changes made by patients in the NHS app transfer into EMIS Web overnight. No extra workflow tasks are raised. If this feature is switched off, you’ll continue to see these changes as PDS differences that you can accept or reject.
Patient Access: Similar updating has been available for longer. If Demographics is enabled in EMAS Manager, changes to a patient’s email or mobile trigger tasks in Registration Workflow for you to review. If Demographics isn’t enabled, these updates apply automatically without generating a task.
Keeping email addresses and mobile numbers current can significantly reduce communication failures and save administrator time when sending mass updates.
To activate the feature for the NHS app, open EMIS Web Menu, select Configuration > Organisation Configuration, and set Auto-update patient details with PDS to Yes. You can revert to No at any time if you prefer a manual acceptance of changes.
By using these tools effectively, you ensure more accurate records, maintain better privacy for your patients, and keep the flow of communication running smoothly.
Did you know? Practices using EMIS Web can also benefit from advanced messaging options. Hero Health integrates with EMIS Web, letting you send customised reminders or messages directly to patients using their most up-to-date email and mobile details. This helps ensure patients never miss important information.
