Hero Health - EMIS Web Support Guide

How does the automatic update process work overnight for email and mobile changes between the NHS app and EMIS Web?

When a patient updates their email or mobile number in the NHS app, those changes can automatically flow into EMIS Web overnight. If your organisation wants to enable this function, open Organisation Configuration and set Auto-update patient details with PDS (mobile and/or email) changes? to Yes. If left disabled, email or mobile changes will appear as PDS differences for manual review.

Keeping this feature switched on saves time for administrators and reduces the chance of messages bouncing back from outdated contact details. Only mobile and email updates are automated; other demographic changes remain subject to standard PDS checks.

"Enabling these overnight updates helps keep patient records accurate and boosts efficiency when sending large-scale communications."

Did you know? If patients’ emails and mobile numbers are kept accurate in EMIS Web, you can reach them more effectively using individual or group messaging. This reduces admin workload and helps patients engage with vital health communications.
