Completing the Online Data Sharing Agreement for Consultation Write Back in EMIS Web
To enable Consultation Write Back in EMIS Web, which allows clinical data to seamlessly flow between a PCN Hub and a patient's GP care record, you need to complete an online Data Sharing Agreement (DSA). This involves a few key steps to ensure that your organisation is set up correctly.
Steps to Complete the Agreement
- Access the DSA Form: Begin by accessing the online form provided on EMISNow. Be sure to have an active EMISNow account as this is necessary for accessing the agreements.
- Specify Organisations: Within the form, detail all the organisations you wish to include in your Consultation Write Back agreement. This might consist of multiple GP practices and other healthcare organisations.
- Activation: Ensure that the Enterprise Agreement is activated both by the hub and your GP practice.
- Data Sharing Manager Access: When ready, navigate to Configuration > Data Sharing Manager within EMIS Web. This step requires the user to have RBAC activity B0109 Local Restricted System Administration rights.
- Activate the Agreement: Select ‘Appointments’ and choose the Consultation Write Back agreement bearing your PCN name and click ‘Activate Agreement’.
- Link with Hub: Choose your local formulary and assign a prescribing user. This is typically the practice partner, but they must have a GMP PPD Code in their EMIS user account and be classified as a General Medical Practitioner.

Important Considerations
It's crucial to ensure all organisations included in the agreement are fully activated. Any previous applications like Managed Referrals must be deactivated as they may prevent the Consultation Write Back functionality from operating correctly. This integration leads to fewer delays in care and facilitates more effective clinical communication across all your network's organisations.
By completing these steps, consultation details, including clinical codes and electronic prescriptions, will automatically populate the patient’s GP record, enhancing continuity of care across service points.
