To activate the Enterprise Agreement for Consultation Write Back in EMIS Web, the following steps should be followed by your organisation:
- Ensure that a valid data sharing agreement has been established between all participating organisations, including your PCN Hub and the associated GP practices. This agreement facilitates the flow of clinical information between sites.
- Log in to EMIS Web with an account that has the required RBAC role for accessing Data Sharing Manager (specifically, the activity B0109 Local Restricted System Administration is needed).
- Navigate to Configuration, then to Data Sharing Manager.
- Within Data Sharing Manager, select Appointments and locate the specific Consultation Write Back agreement related to your PCN Hub. It will generally be named similar to your hub, e.g., "[PCN Name] Enhanced Access Consultation Write Back".
- Click on Activate Agreement. You will be prompted to review the Agreement Terms.
- Proceed by clicking Next and select your local Formulary and the Prescribing User. Ensure the Prescriber has a GMP PPD Code within their EMIS user account and a job category listed as General Medical Practitioner.
- Finalise the activation process, allowing the system to facilitate seamless clinical data exchange.
With Consultation Write Back enabled, administrative tasks are significantly reduced, as clinical notes, codes, and prescriptions are automatically synchronised with a patient’s GP record. This saves time and provides a comprehensive, up-to-date view of care.
Note: If your organisation previously utilised Remote Consultations, you may consider deactivating that agreement after activating Consultation Write Back to prevent overlap.
