In EMIS Web, child protection warnings are highlighted through specific icons and messages to alert practitioners to critical safeguarding information promptly. These alerts are instrumental in ensuring the safety and well-being of the child under care.
Child Protection Icons
When a child protection safeguarding clinical code is added to a patient's record, EMIS Web automatically displays a corresponding child protection warning. This warning appears in the patient précis and the expanded patient précis, utilising intuitive icons:
- Safeguarding/child protection code icon: This signifies any safeguarding concern.
- Looked After Child (LAC) icon: This indicates the patient is under a specific child arrangement, such as LAC in England or Looked After and Accommodated Child (LAAC) in Scotland.
Every time the patient's record is accessed, a warning message is displayed on the screen. These features ensure that any practitioner accessing the record is immediately made aware of the child's protective status, allowing for vigilant and informed decision-making.
"Quickly identifying safeguarding concerns saves precious consultation time, allowing practitioners more space to focus on patient care and support."
Updating and Removing Warnings
If a child protection warning no longer applies, it is essential to add the appropriate removal clinical code to the patient record. For ease of management, EMIS Web supports both traditional clinical codes and SNOMED CT concept IDs, ensuring compliance with organisational needs.
