Verifying the destination

To see exactly where a prescription is going before you print it, open the Medication screen in EMIS Web and select Nominations. This displays the patient’s current nominated pharmacy or dispensing appliance contractor. If there is more than one possible dispenser, confirm you have chosen the correct one. In situations where you want to issue a prescription to a different location just once, use the one-off nomination feature. This means you do not have to permanently change someone’s usual pharmacy or contractor.

If your patient uses an appliance contractor, you’ll see a Use DAC checkbox. Only enable this if you are sending an appliance prescription. Unticking it in the Add a Drug screen directs the prescription to the pharmacy instead, helping you avoid accidental misdirection.

When you move on to the Issue screen, you can also confirm how the prescription will be delivered or printed. If anything looks incorrect, adjust the nomination details or prescription options before finalising and printing. Taking this step saves time that might otherwise be spent on cancellations or re-issues.
