In EMIS Web, certain child protection clinical codes are automatically associated with safeguarding warnings, which are vital for notifying clinicians and administrators of potential risks at a glance. It’s important for users to understand that while many child protection warnings are visible in the patient précis and expanded précis, not all are automatically displayed.
Key Clinical Codes and Visibility
When a safeguarding child protection clinical code is added to a patient’s record, EMIS Web generates a corresponding patient warning. However, some specific codes related to 'Looked After Children' (LAC) may not automatically trigger a warning in the patient précis. These include specific situations such as a child being with foster carers or relatives, among others. These specific codes should be manually checked and updated as needed.
Adding and Managing Safeguarding Warnings
When managing these warnings, access any Care Record module, and ensure you have the patient selected using Patient Find if necessary. To add a warning, use the ‘Add Code’ option in the Care Record ribbon, and enter the applicable CHIS clinical term.
Importance of Cross-Organisation Sharing
Sharing safeguarding warnings across organisations ensures comprehensive care management for at-risk children. Leveraging shared warnings allows each practice to maintain up-to-date and consistent records, improving patient care and safeguarding protocols.
Review all existing local warnings individually before activating a sharing agreement to ensure consistency across all shared records.
Did You Know?
Additionally, the Hero Health platform complements EMIS Web by offering care navigation triage functionalities, which allow practices to collect patient-submitted information directly via their website, directing them to appropriate local services when needed.
