To add clinical codes using a SNOMED CT enabled system in EMIS Web, follow these steps:

  • Access the patient's Care Record. Navigate to the Care Record module you require by clicking on Care Record from the EMIS Web menu.
  • On the ribbon, click on Add and select Code from the dropdown list.
  • Enter the full or partial clinical term in the search field on the Add a Code screen. You can also navigate through the code hierarchy. As you type, potential results will appear.
  • To refine your search, apply filters by clicking on the Filter button beside the search bar. Choose specific categories such as symptoms or diagnoses to narrow your options.
  • If necessary, adjust the code display options by clicking Options in the lower corner of the screen. Here, you can choose to display or hide SNOMED CT concept IDs and description IDs.
  • Double-click the required code from the list to enable additional fields on the Add a Code screen.
  • Set the Date of Entry by typing directly into the field or selecting a date from the calendar.
  • Additional details can be added in the Descriptive Text field. If the code represents a problem, choose Record as Problem and complete the classification details.
  • To file the code in the patient's record, click OK. Alternatively, use Add Another to continue adding codes.

Utilising SNOMED CT codes streamlines the coding process, potentially reducing data entry time and improving the consistency of patient records across various healthcare systems.
