Slot types in EMIS Web define the nature of each appointment slot, for example, whether it’s a telephone consultation, face-to-face visit, or a task that doesn’t require the patient’s presence. They control:
- Booking availability: Determine which slots can be booked by staff or patients.
- Slot colours and notation: Use shading and text colour to highlight different slot types.
- Embargo and reminders: Apply an embargo so slots only open for booking just before start time, or automatically send SMS reminders.
By using a specific slot type for each appointment scenario, practices can organise sessions more effectively and highlight specialised services. This helps everyone quickly see which appointments are suitable for patient needs and saves time for administrators.
