The Consultation Write Back feature in EMIS Web enables seamless sharing of consultation notes, clinical codes, and electronic medications between a Primary Care Network (PCN) Hub and a patient's GP record. This capability not only enhances continuity of care but also improves the efficiency of cross-organisational patient management.
Setting Up Consultation Write Back
To facilitate Consultation Write Back, a data sharing agreement must be completed and activated within EMIS Web. This involves listing all participating organisations and ensuring each one ratifies the agreement in the Data Sharing Manager. With an activated enterprise agreement, organisations can freely share and synchronise essential patient information.
Once configured, consultation notes are automatically transcribed back into the patient’s main GP record. This process bypasses traditional methods, such as remote consultations and manual document sharing, which were commonly used prior to this functionality.
Benefits of Consultation Write Back
- Reduced Administrative Burden: Streamlines administrative processes by removing the need for manual data entry and transfers across multiple platforms.
- Improved Care Coordination: Allows various healthcare organisations to update patient records accurately and promptly, enhancing care coordination.
- Efficiency in Service Delivery: Enables immediate referral processing and test requests, minimising delays in care.
"The automatic synchronisation of consultation data back into GP records minimises delays and administrative burden, allowing clinicians to focus more on patient care."
Clinicians should ensure that patients are registered within the PCN Hub for Consultation Write Back to function effectively. This process ensures all relevant information is continuously and accurately updated into the patient’s core GP record, supporting a cohesive and interconnected care system.
