Hero Health - EMIS Web Support Guide

How can medication compliance be monitored using compliance checks in EMIS Web?

EMIS Web enables healthcare professionals to monitor medication compliance effectively using built-in compliance checks. By setting up compliance thresholds, prescribers can easily identify patients who are either over-using or under-using their medications, which is crucial for maintaining effective treatment regimens.

Setting Compliance Thresholds

You can configure the compliance thresholds for medication under- and over-use in percentages. Any compliance figures outside these thresholds are highlighted in red, prompting further review before the medication can be reissued.

Leveraging compliance checks ensures patients adhere to their prescribed regimens, helping clinicians address issues of non-compliance promptly.

Calculating Compliance

The compliance check calculates the medication adherence rate using the following formula:

(Quantity prescribed/Daily quantity) x 100 / Number of days since last issue.

To ensure accurate calculation, always specify a daily dosage when prescribing medication. Without it, EMIS Web defaults to the duration value in the patient’s record to calculate compliance. If neither is provided, compliance cannot be assessed.

The compliance figures are available to provide a clear indication of the patient’s medication usage pattern, ensuring optimal treatment outcomes and preventing potential health risks due to incorrect medicine intake.

Managing Compliance Warnings

When a medication's compliance falls outside the set thresholds, EMIS Web will display a warning. To address this, clinicians should verify the accuracy of the prescription details or update the patient’s medication regimen as necessary, ensuring continuous and effective patient care.
