How can I add a diary entry to a patient's record in EMIS Web?

Adding a diary entry to a patient's record in EMIS Web is a straightforward process that can significantly enhance organisation and tracking of patient care activities. This functionality is particularly useful for documenting planned items or tasks such as follow-up appointments.

Steps to Add a Diary Entry

  • Access the Diary by pointing to Care Record and selecting Diary. If no patient is selected, you will be prompted to choose one.
  • Click Add and select Diary Entry.
  • In the search field, select the relevant clinical term, then press ENTER. Note that each clinical term can only have one diary entry. If multiple entries are made, EMIS Web will display only the latest item.
  • In the Diary section, choose and enter a date. You can type shortcuts like 3m (3 months) or 1y (1 year) for quick date changes. Use NK if the date is unknown.
  • Enter the Patient Age, if relevant.
  • In the HCP field, select the clinician responsible. Use the Find Users screen if needed.
  • Type necessary notes in the Diary Text field.
  • Click OK to save the diary entry to the patient's record.
This functionality can reduce administrative burdens by allowing clinical teams to efficiently schedule and track patient care activities, ensuring nothing is overlooked.
