Understanding Patient Registration Rejections in EMIS Web
When dealing with patient registrations in EMIS Web, a rejection can occur for several reasons. Understanding these can help expedite resolution and minimise disruptions.Common Reasons for Registration Rejection
- Incorrect Patient Area: This is the most frequent cause of rejections. Registrations are often sent to the wrong trading partner due to patients living outside the specified area.
- Missing or Incorrect Information: Incomplete or incorrect patient data, such as missing NHS numbers, will prevent the registration from being accepted.
- Duplicate Entries: If a registration attempt reflects an NHS number that is already on record, the system rejects it automatically.
Steps to Investigate the Cause
To investigate the cause of a rejection, you should access the Registration Workflow as follows:To access Registration Workflow, select the EMIS Web menu, point to Workflow, click Workflow Manager, and select Registration.1. Navigate to GP Links - Inbox, then click on Rejections. 2. Review the details in the Transaction Information pane. 3. Decide on the following options based on the rejection reason: - Use Re-Register to correct details and resend to the appropriate trading partner. - Select Cancel Registration if details are irreparable and note the status change to Inactive.
