The GP2GP system enhances the efficiency of transferring electronic patient health records between practices by securely automating the exchange process. When a receiving organisation registers a new patient through GP2GP, an automatic process is set in motion to request and import their health record:
Steps to Follow at the Sending Organisation
- Automatic Check: Upon receiving a GP2GP record request, EMIS Web will automatically check the database for the patient’s medical record.
- Record Availability: If the record is available, a notification will be sent back to the receiving organisation, and the electronic record will be sent over.
- Record Non-Availability: If the record cannot be located, a rejection message will be sent.
- Task Status Updates: Follow the GP2GP navigation pane options within Workflow Manager to monitor task statuses related to requests, records sent, and anything outstanding.
Task updates are seamlessly reflected in the Workflow Manager, confirming receipt and filing status or highlighting tasks such as medication reauthorisations needed at the receiving practice. This allows practices to efficiently handle integrations and respond to any issues promptly.
By automating data exchange, GP2GP reduces potential errors and delays associated with manual record handling, thereby supporting uninterrupted patient care.
