The SCR Viewer in EMIS Web enables healthcare professionals to access patients' Summary Care Records (SCR) from the Care Record module, offering vital information during clinical assessments and emergencies. Follow these steps to access the SCR Viewer:
Required Permissions
Ensure your smartcard role profile includes the following RBAC activities:
- B0370: View Summary Health Records
- B0082: Legal Override of Consent
If accessing SCRs without patient consent, due to emergencies, you additionally need:
- B0168: View SCR When Permission Could not be Requested
Steps to Access the SCR Viewer
- Navigate to the EMIS Web menu and go to the Care Record module.
- Select or search for the required patient.
- Expand the shared records pane to reveal External Views.
- Select Summary Care Record to open the SCR Viewer.
- If the patient is non-regular, trace them on the Spine if necessary for access.
By accessing SCRs, clinicians can quickly gather necessary health data in emergencies, ensuring accurate and rapid patient care decision-making.
Managing Patient Consent
When accessing the SCR Viewer, you may need to handle patient consent through the Permission to View screen. Depending on the patient's consent settings, select:
- Yes (View Record) to proceed with viewing.
- No (Access Refused) to stop access.
- Emergency Access or Access for Legal Reasons when situation demands, providing additional information as needed.
Complete the consent details and view the available SCRs on the Spine using the SCR Viewer interface, which includes options like refresh, print, and various viewing modes.
