Steps to add a missing telephone number

If you find the telephone number is missing when issuing medication in EMIS Web, you can update it so the correct details appear on your patient’s prescription. Having the telephone number ensures pharmacies and patients can reach your practice promptly, improving both accuracy and safety.

  • Check user permissions: Ensure you have the necessary role to modify medication settings (for example, prescribing or administrative roles).
  • Open Medication Configuration: Go to EMIS Web menu > Configuration > Organisation Configuration > select your user, then click Edit User. Confirm settings allow you to update the telephone number.
  • Update the Contact Telephone Number field: In Medication Configuration under User Options, locate Contact Telephone Number and enter the correct number. This ensures the information is automatically added to prescription details.
  • Check terminal options (if applicable): If the number still does not appear, verify your Terminal Options in Medication Configuration are set to use the correct address details for printing.

Tip: Keeping this information current can reduce call handling times and speed up communication with both patients and pharmacies.
