When approving a new registration in EMIS Web, you might encounter a prompt to input a patient's NHS number. This typically occurs if the NHS number is not already associated with the new patient record or must be confirmed as part of the registration process. Here’s how to handle this requirement:
Steps to Approve New Registration
1. Access the Registration Workflow by clicking the EMIS Web menu, pointing to Workflow, selecting Workflow Manager, and choosing Registration from the navigation pane.
2. In the GP Links - Inbox section, check for any New Registration tasks. Identify the task requiring NHS number confirmation and select it.
3. You will need to manually input the NHS number if prompted. This information is crucial to ensure the patient’s record is accurately matched and linked across systems.
Ensuring all records have accurate NHS numbers prevents duplicates and allows seamless information exchange, enhancing patient care quality and administrative efficiency.
4. Once the NHS number is confirmed and entered, click Approve on the Registration Workflow ribbon to complete the transaction.
If you're uncertain about the NHS number, consult the patient's Failed Approval task or refer to previously completed tasks within the GP Links section of the patient’s Care Record.
