Hero Health - EMIS Web Support Guide

What happens if I log on to EMIS Web without a smartcard?

Using EMIS
Beginner

Logging on without a smartcard means you lose access to all Spine-connected features, such as electronic prescriptions and Patient Demographic Service (PDS) traces. You can still perform standard tasks that don’t rely on national functions, but you must use your EMIS Web username and password.

Tip: It’s wise to ensure that at least one administrator can update passwords if you rely on logging in without a smartcard. This provides a fallback if single sign-on is disrupted. However, be mindful of security best practices when allowing password logins and manage them carefully.
