Configuring service-level prescribing in EMIS Web
Before using the Medication module in EMIS Web, ensure that prescribing options are configured at the user, PC, and organisation levels. This setup is crucial for enabling efficient and safe prescribing practices across your organisation.
Step-by-step Instructions:
1. Configure User Roles
- Open Organisation Configuration by clicking the EMIS Web menu, navigating to Configuration, and then selecting Organisation Configuration from the sidebar.
- In the navigation pane, click Users and choose the relevant user.
- Click Edit User, go to the Role section, and verify fields such as Authorise Prescriptions and Formulary. Adjust settings as needed before saving.
2. Adjust Medication Options
- Navigate to the Care Record section and select Medication.
- If prompted, use Patient Find to select a patient, then click Config to open the Medication Configuration screen.
- In the Organisation Options, set parameters like cancellation periods for repeats and compliance settings.
- In Safety, configure compliance warnings to ensure safe prescribing practices.
