Understanding Lab Report Mailboxes in EMIS Web
EMIS Web utilises a structured mailbox system to manage lab reports within the Workflow Manager. This guide outlines how each mailbox functions and how to organise and process lab reports effectively.
1. Unmatched Mailbox
The Unmatched mailbox contains lab reports that cannot be automatically linked to a patient or user. This can occur when there is no matching patient name, NHS number, or date of birth, or if the patient is inactive.
- To access: Navigate to Lab Reports in Workflow Manager and select 'Unmatched'.
- Action: Match reports to the correct patient or user, or reject reports meant for another organisation, ensuring accurate patient records are maintained.
2. Inbox Mailbox
In the Inbox, you'll find lab reports that have been matched to a patient but may require further action.
- Tasks: File and archive reports. You can also change the report owner, add tasks, comments, or clinical terms as needed. Viewing is essential before filing and archiving.
- Automation: Use 'Auto File' to file all viewed reports and 'Auto Archive' for filing reports without pending tasks.
3. Archived Mailbox
The Archived mailbox holds reports that have been filed and viewed. These reports are often no longer active but are preserved for future reference.
- Task: Unarchive reports if needed, moving them back to the Unmatched mailbox for reprocessing or review.
This structured mailbox system in EMIS Web helps practice administrators efficiently manage lab reports, ensuring that lab results are matched, reviewed, and filed correctly to maintain streamlined patient care and record-keeping.
