In EMIS Web, concurrency checks are an essential part of managing prescription requests, ensuring that multiple users can work efficiently without the risk of duplicating actions or overwriting important data.
Managing Concurrency
EMIS Web allows more than one user to access a patient's care record at the same time, which is vital in a dynamic healthcare setting. To manage this effectively, EMIS Web provides concurrency warnings.
For instance, if two users access the Prescription Request Tasks screen simultaneously and one user issues a prescription request, a warning will alert the second user about the action already taken. This prevents redundancy and ensures coherent record-keeping. The message will inform you: "The current patient's record has been updated by another user."
This system saves time and prevents administrative errors by ensuring that all members of the healthcare team work with the most up-to-date patient records.
Steps to Take
If a concurrency warning appears, follow these steps:
- On the Medication screen, click on the message that states the patient’s record has been updated to reload the latest information.
- Close the warning message on the Prescription Request Tasks screen or Workflow Manager by clicking "OK". This will remove the already actioned request from your view, allowing you to proceed with other tasks.
By adhering to these protocols, EMIS Web ensures that task management is seamless and error-free, improving the clinical workflow for healthcare professionals.
