In EMIS Web, non-prescribing users may encounter situations where a medication review is overdue, preventing them from issuing a prescription directly. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to request a prescription in such cases:
Accessing the Medication Screen
First, navigate to the Medication screen by selecting the required patient from the Care Record. Once on the Current Medication screen, choose the medication requiring a prescription.
Issuing a Prescription Request
Click the Issue button on the ribbon. This will open the Issue screen where you can review the prescription details. If a medication review is overdue, non-prescribing users will need to click Request to create a task for action by a prescribing user.
Directing the Request
On the Issue Request screen, you can optionally type a query in the Query field before selecting the Request From field using the search icon to choose the appropriate prescribing user. By default, this will be the patient’s usual GP.
After clicking Request, the task is forwarded to the chosen user and appears in their Medicine Management workflow for actioning. This ensures that overdue reviews are addressed promptly and efficiently.
Using this process helps practices maintain a smooth workflow while ensuring that patient care continues seamlessly despite administrative barriers.
