Viewing GP Connect External Access via Audit Trails

EMIS Web logs all external requests made through GP Connect to help you maintain security and transparency when others access patient records. These audit logs can be filtered to show where users outside your organisation have viewed or updated information.

Steps to Check External Access

  • Open the EMIS menu, then hover over System Tools and select Audit Trails.
  • Select Record Access from the audit trails ribbon at the top of the screen.
  • In the Event Type filter, choose External request.
  • Click Apply to display the records of external users who accessed files via GP Connect.

The Details section will highlight any reasons or notes entered when external users accessed the records. Ensure you regularly review these logs to monitor who views patient information, maintain better data security, and address any suspicious activity promptly.

Checking external requests regularly can protect patient confidentiality. A swift review helps you identify any unexpected data access and promotes vigilant data governance.
